Dawson Perley Memorial Car Show

Not necessarily an event in the immediate area, but if you have an interest in automobiles, it benefits a good cause!
The Dawson Perley Memorial Car Show will be held on Saturday, September 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be located at Westcom’s Snack Bar, 1685 Main St. North (Route 108), in Bakersfield. Registration for participating vehicles is $15 at the door, and is open to all cars and trucks. Proceeds from car show registration will benefit the Dawson Perley Athletic Scholarship Fund. Admission for the general public is free.
Dawson Perley, a student at Enosburg Falls High School, died on June 28 as a result of injuries he sustained in an ATV accident. He excelled in athletics, especially soccer and basketball, but beyond his love of sports, the 15 year-old is remembered for being a loyal and caring friend to many, sticking up for people when they needed it the most. The scholarship in Dawson’s memory will benefit a young athlete who holds the values Dawson represented.
Judges will award trophies for the top five cars, and for the best vehicle restoration (before and after photos required). The public will have an opportunity to vote on their favorite, and Dawson’s family will also select a car to receive the Dawson Perley Memorial Award.
In addition to judging, a 50/50 raffle and silent auction will be held, with the proceeds also benefiting the scholarship fund. The silent auction features gift certificates from area restaurants, pieces from Vermont artists and craftsmen, baked goods, donations from auto parts stores, hardware stores, and other local businesses.
The silent auction will kick off on Facebook over the next week, with bids being accepted on the Dawson Perley Memorial Car Show Silent Auction group page through September 4. Bids will also be accepted at the car show on September 5, with the final bids being awarded the items at the close of the day.
