Donations are needed for the largest annual clothing and textile recycling event in Vermont, coming to Plumley Armory at Norwich University on Sept. 27-28!
The "Drop 'N Swap" helps to collect, sort and redistribute quality clothing and textiles to interested community members - keeping these items out of the landfills and helping to promote the re-use of these products! Any items deemed unsuitable for redistribution will be transported - thanks to the Salvation Army of Barre, VT - to a recycling depot and recycled!
Prepare NOW for this year's Clothing "Drop"- happening Friday, Sept. 27 between 12 - 6 p.m. by setting aside any of those clothes you no longer want, no longer need or no longer fit! We ask that all clothing donations are pre-sorted into bags labeled "men's," "women's" or "children's," and "rags" though we will also accept shoes, linens, coats, hats, ties and miscellaneous textiles such as clean comforters. Unfortunately, we cannot accept stuffed animals and pillows will be categorized by our sorters into a "rags" pile.
On the day of the "Drop," our volunteers will be stationed on the sidewalk outside of Plumley Armory, ready to help, making this "drop" a true drive-thru service - never requiring you to even leave your vehicle!
The next day, Saturday, Sept. 28 beginning at 9 a.m., we invite the public to enter the Armory and search through the TONS of clothing we will have collected - and for only a $1 donation we request at the door - take whatever they like! Again, volunteers will be at the ready to help patrons bring their new treasures to their cars!
Also, inside at the "Swap" we'll have a "Kid's Corner" where children can make fun arts and crafts with our student volunteers from recycled items to take home for free!
