Hello -
I have been getting a lot of questions about the procedure for input to the updates of the Hardwick Town Plan. I have spoken with our consultant from the Northern Vermont Development Association (NVDA), Alison Low. Her words are as follows:
It seemed to me that there were some people who wanted to add something specific and directive into the plan that could guide board decisions, mainly about commercial developments like chain retail.... if they are working on articulating those ideas and getting them into the plan, that's great. If there is a spokesperson(s) for that group, I would love to talk to them, or we could just make sure that they are represented at the next meeting.
I am scheduling a meeting of the Planning Commission for Tuesday October 1st. The meeting will be held at the Memorial Building on the second floor.
We will likely being at 6:30pm, though the exact time has not yet been set.
There will be a formal warning of the meeting in next week's HardwickGazette.
I would encourage those who are interested in seeing a preference for small locally owned businesses to look into Stowe's Town Plan and or By-Laws.
Last I knew, they were successful at achieving similar goals.
My office hours are Mondays and Tuesdays from 8:30am to 12:00pm. Feel free to call me with questions at 472-6120 or email me at karen.holmes@hardwickvt .org
