The Wobblies Are Coming

Past event
Jul 31, 2015

The spirit of I.W.W (the Wobblies) labor martyr Joe Hill ( “the man who never died”) will fill Barre’s historic Old Labor Hall, 46 Granite St., when the nationally-touring “Joe Hill 100 Roadshow” makes its only Vermont stop on July 31. Hill, the great songwriter for the IWW, was framed and executed for 2 murders 100 years ago in Utah, despite the protests of Pres. Woodrow Wilson, Helen Keller, and many others around the world. The Roadshow will feature folk musicians Charlie King, Magpie, and George Mann. The local duo Anything Goes will also perform. For more information and reservations go to http://oldlaborhall.org/ , email info@oldlaborhall.org or call (802) 479-5600. The “Joe Hill 100 Roadshow” is sponsored by the Barre Historical Society with support from the Vermont Labor History Society, the Vermont Workers’ Center, Pie-in-the-Sky Farm B&B, the Three Penny Taproom, and the Vermont State Labor Council-AFL-CIO.
