Boston-based viola and saxophone duo patchtax will perform at the Main Street pocket park on Friday, July 31, at 7 p.m. The performance features the duo, made up of violist (Karen) Eve Boltax, a graduate of Montpelier High School, and saxophonist Mary Jo Patchett, in collaboration with Boston-based dancer Elizabeth Epsen. Patchtax will be performing newly interpreted works by Georg Phillip Telemann, Luciano Berio and Bela Bartok, as well as works by contemporary composers Georges Aperghis and Kevin Laba. The performance is part of a tour of Burlington, Montreal and Quebec City, where the artists will be experimenting with the shared physical space of dance, music and audience. During the tour and subsequent dates in New York City, the ensemble will be recording an album that will be released in the fall. The tour and recording project is entirely crowd-funded.
