History, craftsmanship and creativity come together in the decorative art's exhibition "Rich and Tasty: Vermont Furniture to 1850," opening on Saturday, July 25 at 10 a.m., with an opening talk by Curator Emerita Jean Burks at 2 p.m.
Organized by Shelburne Museum, and including 20 years of research, the exhibition on view in the Museum’s Pizzagalli Center for Art & Education, from July 25 to November 1, dramatically expands popular understanding of Vermont high style furniture. It reveals the exquisite craftsmanship of individual forms and encourages a wide audience to learn about regional tastes and economics that help define Vermont furniture’s stylistic features and unexpected aesthetic innovations in the early decades of the nineteenth century.
Attention woodworkers: you won't want to miss this one.
