On Friday, July 24th, at 7:30 pm, "The Celtic Mass for Peace - Songs for the Earth" will be performed at the Salisbury Summer Series at the Salisbury Congregational Church.

Composed by classical guitarist, and Middlebury resident Sam Guarnaccia (whose "Emergent Universe Oratorio" was performed by the Middlebury Community Chorus last fall), the Celtic Mass for Peace has evolved from its simple beginning of several songs and chants into its present form with a full overture, nine songs for chorus, and eight musical interludes scored for guitar, flutes, strings, and piano. It has been performed and celebrated in many forms on both sides of the Atlantic, from simple liturgical settings on the island of Iona, Scotland, to concert settings in Edinburgh and throughout the United States.

For this performance, 12 musicians from the area come together to present this beautiful, transparent, prayerful, praiseful work, longing for peace and the health of the planet on which we all live. It is both timely and timeless, and the acoustics of the historic Salisbury Congregational Church lend a very special setting in the high summer of a Vermont evening.

Come hear Sam Guarnaccia, Tim Guiles, David Gusakov, Betsy Killorin, Michelle Keller, Tina Ellison, Jeff Rehbach, Cathy Walsh, Deborah Felmeth, Serena Guiles, Julie James, and Vin Pelleti present this hour-long beautiful and inspirational piece, "The Celtic Mass for Peace - Songs for the Earth." Donations welcome at the door to support the Salisbury Summer concert series.
