Last Saturday BEEC naturalist and Hogback HMCA Director Patti Smith led a leisurely afternoon walk through the old ski area at Hogback to look at ferns of fields and wetlands. This coming Saturday, July 25, she’ll be leading a similar hike on the Hogback conservation land north of Route 9 to hunt out woodland ferns. Expect to find New York, hay-scented, lady and other ferns on this walk, which will be hilly, but leisurely. Meet at 3:00 in the big parking lot on the north side of Route 9, just west of the gift shop.
