This Thursday at the Rusty Parker Memorial Park during the Waterbury Farmers Market judging for Sunzilla, The Monster Sunflower will be held. Prizes will be awarded for the tallest sunflower(Sunzilla), the heaviest sunflower head, the largest diameter sunflower. We'll also hold the Hunt for the Other Green Monster; the longest and the heaviest zucchinis. There will also be sunflower seed spitting for distance and accuracy open to children 12 and younger, but if you look like a kid you can join in. This Waterbury Rotary Club sponsored event is cosponsored by the Waterbury Farmers Market, Evergreen Gardens, Sunflower Natural Foods and Waterbury True Value Hardware Store. During the judging the Rotary will also be holding the drawing for our giant raffle with a First Prize of $7,500 Home Makeover provided by Hannon Home Center or $5,000.00 cash; Second Prize -2 Year Platinum Membership at Dave's Community Fitness or $500.00 cash; 3rd. Prize-Restaurant Gift Pack including Arvad's, Hen of the Wood, Jimmz, Michael's on the Hill, Prohibition Pig, the Blue Stone and others or $300.00 cash.
