Sunday, July 19, 5:30-8:30 p.m. —Sunday Jazz at the Hinesburgh Public House—VT 116, Hinesburg, VT Back for a command performance (the house was comfortably packed back in April), the musicians of seven-member In the Pocket will pack the band alcove at the HPH.
But this band makes music, not noise, so you’ll be able to listen, talk respectfully, and be heard when the band backs vocalist Michael LeStrange as he pays homage to Sinatra and the songs of that era—or when the band (Nick Aloi, drums; Michael Carrese, trumpet; David Epstein, bass; Chris Frieman, keyboard; Leo O’Reilly, guitar; George Voland, valve trombone) plays selections from its choice library.
This Sunday, you have no need to jump in the water with blue-green algae, nor need you slap ineffectually at phalanxes of hummingbird-sized, attack mosquitoes while also vying with ants for control of your potato salad. Instead, enjoying great food and music at the HPH makes for just the right recreation this mid-summer Sunday evening in Vermont.
