Wednesday October 2 - Slate Valley History
Bob Isherwood - Bob began his connection with the Slate Valley Museum as a volunteer working on the museum's on-going digitization efforts. In an effort to provide greater access to the photographs, documents, objects, and stories of the Slate Valley, SVM has an on-going digitization effort to share our collection via the museum website. A demonstration of the materials available online will be offered and how to best conduct a "search". Special attention will be given to the northern portion of the Valley, including Castleton, Hydeville, and the Lake Bomoseen area.
Slate Splitting/Trimming Demonstration - Bob will offer a demonstration of how slate is split and trimmed, giving some geologic background to why slate splits evenly.
