We know of the Halifax Community Hall as the site of events such as slide shows, concerts, senior meals, and public meetings. It takes a creative volunteers to ensure that the building remains available for the community. A (too) small cadre of volunteers (which has not included me) has been organizing and staffing the events, raising the needed funds, maintaining the building and grounds, and issuing a monthly newsletter. It is time for more of us in the greater Halifax community to show our support by becoming active members of the Halifax Community Club. In addition to the events that are already occurring, there is potential for activities such as Tai Chi classes, pancake breakfasts, potlucks, slide shows, crafting, and book discussions. Let us provide opportunities to meet our neighbors and build community. Please join us at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, 20 July at the Halifax Community Hall (20 Brook Rd) for a productive meeting. And, mark your calendars for Saturday, 12 September when Bonnie Brown will give a slide presentation about gardens and gardening in New England (details forthcoming).
