Peacham Library will hold its 205th Annual Meeting TONIGHT, Monday, July 13 at 7pm. There will be a short business meeting with brief reports from the Library Director, the Treasurer of the Board, and the Chairman of the Friends of Peacham Library followed by the election of new board members.
Immediately following the annual meeting will be a talk by Robert VanVranken, the third speaker in Peacham Library’s Summer Series on Purposeful Travel. His presentation is titled “Thoughts on Travel.” Many know Robert for his artwork and his recent movies for Peacham Farmers Market and the Peacham Café. This presentation will be a bit different as he shares thoughts and movies made during his recent trip to Austria where he attempted an 800km hike across the country. He will contrast the quiet of a slow/meditative hike across Austria with the hectic return home in a talk about human nature and various ways we move through space. Robert is a graduate of San Francisco Art Institute and has had 11 solo gallery exhibits at the O.K. Harris Works of Art, New York, NY, as well as many other solo and group exhibits throughout the US.
Future Summer Series talks include:
July 23 – “Teaching Inspired by Traveling” with Bruce Maclean
August 6 – “On the Road with Road Scholar” with Morris McCain and Charlie Byron
August 20 – “A Journey of Discovery” with Beatrice DeRocco Ring
All talks begin at 7pm at Peacham Library and are free and open to the public. For further information, contact Peacham Library at 592-3216 or peachamlib@fairpoint.net
