Abatement Hearing; Clothing Recycle Box Going; Meals Driver Needed
Abatement Hearing - The Board of Abatement will meet Monday, July 13, at 6:30 at the Calais Town Hall to continue the tax abatement hearing of Paul and Jean Cadorette. The elementary school’s septic system is located on the Cadorette’s land and in 1992 they were promised tax relief on that acreage in exchange for the school’s easement on their property. The acreage has been taxed inconsistently since 1992. The public may attend an abatement hearing, but only the Board and the landowners may testify.
Planet Aid Box To Be Removed – The yellow clothing recycling box located at the Town Office will be removed by the end of the month. We received a notice from Planet Aid that the cost of servicing is higher than the revenue they can collect from selling the clothing.
Meals-on-Wheels Drivers Needed - There is an immediate need for volunteer drivers to deliver Meals-on-Wheels to seniors in Calais. If you are available to lend a hand to your neighbors once a week or once a month, your help and support is invaluable. As a Meals-on-Wheels driver with RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), you make a real difference in the lives of local seniors by helping to improve their nutrition and supporting their overall well-being while enabling seniors to remain living independently. For more information on how to volunteer, please contact Kate Reilly-FitzPatrick, RSVP Coordinator at the Central Vermont Council on Aging, at 802-479-1953 or kreilly-fitzpatrick@cvcoa.org.
