Celebrate Conservation & Community with South Hero Land Trust

Past event
Jul 19, 2015, 10 AM to 2 PM

South Hero Land Trust is hosting their 18th Annual Meeting and Celebration at East Shore Vineyard (the former Landon Farm) in South Hero. Join them on July 19th for a wonderful potluck picnic, a naturalist tour of Round Pond State Park, and a vineyard tour.

East Shore Vineyard, which has been growing grapes for their diverse wines on the east shore of Grand Isle, moved onto the farm in the fall of 2014. They will be growing grapes, making and bottling wine, and have a tasting room at their new location, amongst other great plans! Meet the crew, and take a tour of their new vines and processing facility after the picnic.

Chris Boget of the Lake Champlain Land Trust will be sharing his naturalist’s perspective on the flora and fauna of the unique Round Pond habitat during a walk at Round Pond State Park before the picnic. Nesting habits of birds, amphibian spotting, track finding, and flower identification and more will be topics of discussion, and add to the wonder of the public trails at Round Pond State Park.

Emily Boedecker, the Executive Director of Local Motion will talk about her experiences, and how she became a naturalist, and advocate, and a community organizer. From her childhood in England, to working with the Nature Conservancy and creating a home in the Green Mountains, to taking leadership of Local Motion, she has much to share.

Finally, help South Hero Land Trust celebrate 16 years of amazing conservation projects and community building under the leadership of Minner Hobbs Conboy, who will be stepping down as Executive Director at SHLT’s Annual Celebration. It is shaping up to be a fun filled day on the land in South Hero!
