Brett Hughes writes songs that bellyflop, resoundingly, on the waters of what's come to be called Americana—weaving through honky tonk country, bluegrass, blues, folk and rock & roll, rife with stories that take on loss, regret, heartache, infidelity, intemperance and murder… and, maybe, redemption. He's been kicking around Vermont and points beyond for a couple of decades, playing with a diverse array of people— Shannon McNally, Mike Gordon and Ramble Dove, Kat Wright, viperHouse, Chrome Cowboys, Monoprix and Cider House Boys, and he's hosted the venerable Honky Tonk Tuesday old-school country get-down weekly for nearly 10 years. He really needs to make a record soon.
