For the second year, the Old Labor Hall will be hosting the Soirée Sucrée (Sweet Evening) to celebrate the French-Canadian contribution to Barre's ethnic melting-pot as part of the Barre Heritage Festival. The event takes place on Thursday, July 23.
This notice is a heads-up to the cooks among us that the French dessert contest is on, sponsored by the Delicate Decadence Cake Boutique. This year the entries will be judged by a panel of professional chefs. If you want to enter, all the details and an entry form are online at: http://barreheritagefestival.org/la-soiree-sucree.html. Judging is at 5:00 pm.
For those of us who prefer to eat, the doors will open at 5:30 pm. There will be tasting of the entries after the judging with additional treats provided by Delicate Decadence followed by French-Canadian music and dancing at 6:00 pm, provided by the legendary Beaudoin family. Get a sample of their music at: http://oldlaborhall.org/soiree-sucree-2015/
Tickets for Soirée Sucrée 2015: adults – $10 at the door, $8 in advance, children under 12 – $5. Tickets are available online at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/la-soiree-sucree-sweet-evening-tickets-17497681035
The event is in honor of the late Chet Briggs, long time President of the Barre Historical Society for the benefit of the Society and the Barre Heritage Festival. Good fun for a good cause.
