Please join the Cambridge Historical Society for "Stone Walls, Past & Present" at the Warner Lodge, 49 School St, Jeffersonville.
Stone walls are part of Vermont's agricultural and social history. A wall's structure, location and condition are clues to its past as well as evidence of continuing changes to our landscape. Charley MacMartin, a Vermont dry-stone waller, will lead a discussion of our state's stone walls, inviting participants to share stories about favorite walls around the state.
Charley is a Vermont dry-stone waller based in Hinesburg and a professional member of the Dry Stone Wall Association of Great Britain. His recent stonework emphasizes the use of local stone and the preservation of historic stone walls. He leads a series of introductory stone wall workshops each winter in Hinesburg. His stonework has been featured in Vermont Life and on Vermont Public Radio. Charley lives with his family in Burlington.
Cambridge Historical Society programs are free and open to the public.
