Please join AARP Vermont on July 22nd for a walk audit of Colchester's West Lakeshore Drive and nearby intersections and crosswalks to assess pedestrian access and safety.
This will be a fun and interactive walk audit. Volunteers will team up with AARP Vermont staff to survey the walkability of W. Lakeshore Drive to answer the following questions:
> are there appropriate traffic signals for cars and walkers?
> are sidewalks accessible for everyone, including wheelchairs?
> are crosswalks properly marked and at convenient locations?
> is there enough time to cross streets?
This effort is part of AARP's work to make communities across VT safe for people of all ages. Results of the "walk audit" will be shared with town leaders to ensure we're meeting the needs of all VT families, including pedestrians, cyclists, people with disabilities, and those who travel without a car.
