Tip for a Perfect Saturday with Your Kids... How about a professionally led nature walk through a gem of a local park? This Saturday, September 14, from 10 am - noon, the four-town Science to Action project has organized a free nature walk for children of all ages and their parents at Mills Riverside Park in Jericho. Leading the walk will be Jens Hilke, a biologist with the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department. Nobody can enthrall kids with nature like Jens can, and it’s guaranteed that kids and parents alike will learn some fascinating information about our local plants, wildlife, forests and rivers.

Science to Action is a cooperative effort by the towns of Bolton, Huntington, Jericho and Richmond to improve the way natural resources are conserved in each community. The project consists of a four-town natural resources inventory, technical assistance to towns in advancing their planning and conservation goals, and public engagement and educational activities.

Coming up on Saturday September 21, from 9 am – noon: A guided walk to explore rich wildlife habitat and signs of early settlers where near where Bolton, Richmond and Jericho intersect. We will meet on Stage Rd., at the VAST crossing and hike through a rarely explored area of forest. Open to kids and adults.

And on October 2, at Richmond's Camels Hump Middle School, acclaimed photographer and naturalist Sue Morse of Keeping Track will talk about just what makes our area special among the scores she has studied in her 40-year career. She’ll talk about the strength and diversity of local habitats and illustrate her talk with spectacular slides of wildlife she's encountered locally.
