The reading of Frederick Douglass' firery speech on July 5, 1852 will be outside Bennington Town Offices (205 South St.) 6 PM. Join the Greater Bennington Peace and Justice Center and the Interfaith Council in a communal reading of the speech in which the great abolitionist orator Frederick Douglass took exception to being asked to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Discussion and refreshments to follow at St. Peter's Church parish hall. If you would like to read please contact Rev. Lucy reveleye@comcast.net. The speech takes 35 minutes to read.
