The Sheldon Museum presents its annual Pops Concert followed by fabulous fireworks on Friday, June 26 featuring the Vermont Philharmonic. A concert highlight will be tenor soloist Merritt David Janes, originally from Colchester, Vermont. As an actor he has played title and principal roles in every US state and four countries on all six of the following Broadway National Tours: The Wedding Singer (Robbie Hart), Sweeney Todd (Sweeney Todd), Beauty and the Beast (Lumiere), SHREK (Lord Farquaad), Catch Me If You Can (Hanratty), and the 25th anniversary tour of PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (Andre). He began acting as a high school student in Vermont, went onto earn a Bachelor’s Degree in vocal and instrumental music at the University of Maine, then to New York City to graduate from Circle in the Square Theater School.
The Concert will take place at Middlebury College in the field behind the Mahaney Center for the Arts (rain site: Kenyon Arena). The grounds open at 5:30 for picnics; Concert begins at 7:30. Bring chairs, blankets, and flashlights. Ticket prices: Adult $25, Youth $10; children under 12 admitted free; adult tickets purchased by June 21: $20.
