Shrewsbury Conservation Commission Still Wants You to Remove Invasive Plants from Pierce's Meadows!
Hopefully you remember the notice in June's TIMES about a work day to remove Japanese Knotweed. Fortunately (or unfortunately), the state Invasive Team has found that they successfully controlled the known populations of that species in Coolidge State Forest. Therefore, there will be a change in focus.

We will concentrate the actual control efforts that day on another species that is escaping in Coolidge State Forest and all over Shrewsbury (and many other places) – goutweed. Goutweed is definitely a challenging and widespread species. They will be talking about its escape and management and then work on a control project on the former Pierce lands off the Tin Shanty Road.

Meet at the Town Office Saturday, June 27th at 8 am – 2 pm.

We will caravan to nearby sites from there.

PLEASE SIGN UP WITH BY JUNE 20TH SO APPROPRIATE RESTORE HABITAT LEADERS AND EQUIPMENT CAN BE ORGANIZED.
