Presentation Title: "The Strawberry Moon Gathering Presentation"
Presenter: Frederick M. Wiseman, Ph.D. Director, Seeds of Renewal Project

On June 21, a gathering of Native Elders, political leaders, gardeners and medicine people will meet in Southern Quebec for the first "Strawberry Moon Indigenous Knowledge Gathering." The theme of the festival is Indigenous gardening, knowledge and spirit. Professor Fred Wiseman of Swanton, Vermont was one of the organizers and presenters. Abenakis, Innus (Montagnais), Wendats (Hurons) and Kahnawake Mohawks will meet to share their knowledge and experience with other Native and Euroamerican attendees. Join Professor Wiseman as he shares his Strawberry Moon presentation only five days after its debut in Quebec on his work in Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Vermont and Quebec. For those who may have missed some of his January-May presentations at the Refuge, Wiseman will recap some of the material in his previous talks, but will focus more on 2015 results; and how this work fits into the larger Continental -scale movements in Food Justice, Food Sovereignty, Food Security that were discussed at the Quebec gathering. He will also discuss any new insights gleaned from other conference presenters. This "breaking news from Indian Country" talk will be illustrated with slides and perhaps video of the conference. Questions and answers will follow.
