Mayor John Hollar has called a meeting will be held next Tuesday, June 23 at 4 pm in the City Council chambers to try to resolve differences over what should be done to control vegetation on the Washington Country rails as they pass through Montpelier. I encourage ALL to inform yourselves about the issues (see minutes of meetings on the Vermont Pesticide Advisory Council website) and make your views known.

While I believe the vegetation needs to be managed for safety reasons, I do not think the method of controlling it needs to be chemical (glyphosate). The cost for non-chemical management may, in fact, be higher but given the possible consequences of chemical control in such a heavily populated area, it seems warranted.
