Bennington County Head Start has announced open houses at their North Bennington and Pownal school locations for parents who are interested in their children attending Head Start.
The North Bennington Open houses will occur on Tuesday June 23, and Wednesday July 8, each will take place from 3:30 to 6 p.m. In Pownal, the open house will occur on June 30, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Parents are invited to meet staff, learn how the program helps children, ask questions, take a tour, and plan for fall enrollment.
North Bennington Head Start is located at 2 Park Street, North Bennington. The Pownal Center is located at 97 School House Road, Pownal (right next to the elementary school).
Head Start is a federally funded preschool program that serves families with children ages 3 to 5 years old, being at least 3 years old by August 31st. Bennington County Head Start is a NAEYC accredited and a 5 STAR program, it is also a qualified pre-k provider, and is currently accepting enrollment applications.
Head Start offers full-day programs and provides an enriching environment for learning and growth, and special education to children with disabilities. To ensure each child’s well-being, Head Start offers comprehensive services, including medical, vision, and dental screenings, follow-up care, and health education. The program also offers field trips, art programs, nutritional meals, and many community-based learning opportunities for children and their parents/guardians.
Head Start is sponsored by United Children’s Services, Inc., a division of United Counseling Service (UCS), and has been serving families in Bennington County since 1965.
