On Monday, June 15, 2015, the City Council will convene its first of two regular meetings for the month of June with a very full agenda.
Following an expected executive session where we will receive an update from the Weinberger Administration on collective bargaining, we will convene a brief Local Control Commission meeting at 7:00 p.m. in Contois Auditorium. In that meeting we will consider an outside consumption permit application and three liquor license applications.
Next, we will convene our regular City Council meeting. The first item on our deliberative agenda is consideration of the City Council Appointments to various city commissions. We will then consider a motion to authorize the Mayor to execute an extension of the letter agreement and zoning agreement with UVM. The motion acknowledges that the City and UVM have agreed to work together to update each of these agreements in the upcoming year. The Council will also take up another application for an indoor entertainment permit and following a public hearing on the matter, consider a proposed amendment to the use table in the Recreation, Conservation and Open Space district.
Next, the City Council will hold a public hearing on the Common Area fees for the Church Street Marketplace. We will then receive a communication from CAO Bob Rusten on Fund Balance Policy. Following a communication from the Mayor on his budget message, we will be voting on the FY16 budget. These resolutions are some of the most important we vote on all year. They will detail the annual appropriation, the tax rate for the Grand List, the issuance of Grant Anticipation Notes for costs of certain improvement projects and as well Tax Anticipation Notes as we await tax payments just after the start of the fiscal year.
We will then have council committee reports, comments from councilors and the Mayor.
We will then close this meeting and convene a City Council Meeting with Mayor presiding to vote on the remaining board and commission appointments. We will be voting to appoint candidates for all seats expiring as of June 30, 2016.
Please keep in mind that you are welcome to come to a council meeting and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum which begins at 7:30pm. Please also keep in mind that at all Council meetings are televised live on Channel 317 on Burlington Telecom.
As always, I welcome your questions and concerns.
