The Brookfield Community Partnership is planning a "Second Sunday Family Fun Day" June through September. The first event in the series is "Get Outside: Discover the World of Nature in VT" this coming Sun, June 14th at 10:30am. Teacher naturalist (and W. Brookfield resident) Mary Zentara leads this nature discovery program. Here is how Mary describes it:

Would you like to spend more time outside with your family? Would you like to learn alongside your children about what’s happening in the world of nature in Vermont? Many children can easily identify a parrot, a lion, or an elephant, but what about the wild plants and animals right in our own backyard? "Get Outside" offers kids and families an introduction to the flora and fauna right here in our beautiful town of Brookfield as well as an opportunity to explore and get to know a local wetland habitat. The program aims to ignite curiosity and provide families with resources and ideas for further outdoor learning and fun!

Meet at 10:30am at Brookfield's Old Town Hall, right in Brookfield village on Sunset Lake. Shortly after we will caravan to Sunset Pond Natural Area, just east of the village on Rt 65. We'll hike a short distance, and go on a nature quest to find out what is living in this habitat.

And here is a sneak peek plans for the other three "Second Sunday Family Fun Days":

> Sun, July 12th, 4:30pm - Kids Dance Party with the Swing Peepers. This is a vocal-harmony and multi-instrument duo, who perform inventive, earth-friendly and interactive songs and stories for kids and their families. There will be a potluck immediately following.

> Sun, Aug 9th, 10am - Blueberries Brunch & Cooking Class. The Old Town Hall now has beautiful new-to-us kitchen appliances and running water! This event will involve a casual group-cook, followed by a shared meal of blueberry pancakes? blueberry parfaits? blueberry lemonade? Stay tuned.

> Sun, Sept 13th, 5pm - "Pasghetti Western" & Spaghetti Dinner. This is an adorable film made by a Tunbridge family with an entirely kid cast set in the Old West. Of course, we'll be pairing this film with a spaghetti dinner!

All the events in this series are open to everyone and FREE. [Full disclosure: We will encourage everyone to make a contribution to the Old Town Hall restoration fund.]
