The outdoor celebration of all things French -- music, art, crafts, history, food, language -- is moving to Winooski Falls Way after nine beautiful summers in Vergennes. However the Comte and Comtesse de Vergennes, shown above, will not be making the trip on their selfie-board. They'll be repainted -- and you can be the artist(s) whose design is used. Choose a pair of characters from Winooski history and draw or paint their dual portraits. Write up to 200 words explaining why you picked them and why they should be our featured 'visitors' on French Heritage Day, in Winooski, July 11. Submit your artwork together with your written essay. Please include your name(s) and contact information with your entry. Entries may be submitted by email (below), or on the Facebook page, or by paper-and-stamp mail to French Heritage Art Contest, Winooski Historical Society, Champlain Mill -- Suite 42, 20 Winooski Falls Way, Winooski VT 05404. Team entries are fine, and all ages are welcome. Deadline for submission is Friday, June 19. The top three selections will be announced on Channel 17's "Live at 5:25" program on June 23. Art should be submitted in 8 1/2 x 11" landscape (horizontal) format, on paper or as a .jpg or a .pdf file.
Individuals, groups or businesses interested in participating as exhibitors, buskers, and re-enactors, or to submit your Art Contest entry, please email FrenchHeritageDay@gmail.com.
