EGGS! At the Farmers Market June 4

Hello lovely neighbors!

Remember to add "Go to the Farmers Market" to your Thursday afternoon plans. Every Thursday 3-6:30pm, through October 1st, 20-25 vendors will be a Mills Riverside Park waiting to see YOU.

It was so wonderful to have everyone come out last week for opening day of the Jericho Farmers Market. We had some rain but mostly it was pleasant - and folks were SO happy to be back, vendors and customers alike! There was real joy in the air and lots of hugs, as folks who hadn’t seen each other since last winter’s markets got together.

SO this year is the year of meat, dairy and eggs at the market.

Let’s start with EGGS: You asked for it and the vendors are delivering! Five different vendors now carrying eggs with a sixth ready to jump in if needed - Nama Farm, Mostar Home Catering, Agricola Farm, Ash Grove Farm, and Maple Star Farm. Plan to pick up your eggs at the market.

AND while you’re at it you can pick up MILK AND CHEESE!!

Yay! We have Milk at the market! Sweet Rowen Farm gently small-batch pasturizes but doesn’t homoginze their lovely milk. They have it ready for you to take home in familiar ½ gallon plastic jugs - no preorder necessary! Sample their wonderful cheese while you’re at it.

This year we have 3 different meat dealers: Perry and Janet of Home Farm will have beef, Agricola Farm, will have pork, lamb and italian prepared meats, and The Farm at VYCC will have chicken.

Speaking of The Farm at VYCC - It was great to welcome them back to the market last week. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had storage potatoes and carrots and other root crops from last fall - I had some carrots and they were wonderful!!! They won’t last and the new crop of carrots won’t be here for a while so get them while you can.

Maple Star Farm will have starter plants available this week including::

HERBS >> Cilantro, Basil, Parsley, Thyme, Sage and Oregano

FLOWERS / ORNAMENTALS >> Zinnias, Coleus

VEGGIES >> Cucumbers, Summer Squash and Sweet Bell Peppers

TOMATOES >> We have over 15 varieties of tomatoes

They will also have freshly cut, triple-washed and bagged - spinach and

lettuce.

Partial list from NAMA farm

Rainbows of *Radishes*,

AND tons of Nama's Farmhouse Preserves such as Farmhouse Relish, RadishChi, spicy Horseradish Sauce, TurnipChi , spicy KimChi, Apple Mint-White Grape Jelly, *Bread n Butter sweet chip pickles* with sugar and onions. Old timey *Farmhouse Picallilli*

And if you can get all your veggies, milk, egg and cheese then the other item you need is bread.

Many folks were thrilled to see the return of Laure of The European Artists Bread & More with her lovely breads and pastries. And Davorka of Mostar Home Catering also offers bread.

AND this week, something new in the prepared food offerings. Davorka will have a grill and will be offering hot items as well as her regular packaged, take-home dishes: “I would like to inform you that Mostar Home Catering will serve Vegetarian Moussaka and will make in place French crepes . For crepes you will have a choice of Nutella, or Jam , or Whipped cheese crème to spread.

I am very happy to share new stuff with all of you.” - Davorka

Definitely plan on picking up something to eat at the market and sit down for a while and listen to the wonderful music of Steven Spensley. Steven has been making music in Vermont since 1977r. Playing guitar and fiddle, in a wide variety of genres traditional, contemporary and original music. He is a longtime member of The Saltash Serenaders, now often reincarnated as The Salt River Revue.
