Rachel Clark and Bob DeMarco, the Vermont duo Blackbird, will close out a very successful performance season at Tinmouth’s Old Firehouse on Friday, June 5. Blackbird plays traditional music of Celtic origin, as well as tunes of their own creation. Fiddle, Irish flute, whistles, accordion, cittern, piano, guitar and their own voices serve up a lively musical mix.

Rachel spent her early childhood in Sweden, where her parents surrounded her with Swedish fiddle music and song, along with the classical music of their profession. In her teens she began playing Irish music on flute, and has since added Contra dance and English Country Dance music to her repertoire. Playing music with friends is one of the great pleasures of her life, whether on stage or in the living room. The Old Firehouse will be filled with friends!

Bob's inspiration and love for Celtic music comes from his mother, who was from Ballylanders in County Limerick, Ireland. When he was a boy, she frequently sang in Gaelic and loved to play the fiddle and piano. Bob carries on the tradition, playing the fiddle, guitar, cittern and piano. He makes frequent trips to Ireland to connect with the land, its people, the music and his own roots.

The Tinmouth Snack Bar is now open for the season ~ so you can enjoy great food and/or ice cream before the show!

The Old Firehouse Series will resume on September 5 with the Sky Blue Boys, Banjo Dan and Willy Lindner, the celebrated Vermont Bluegrass singers.

The Old Firehouse is at Mountain View Road and Vt. 140 in downtown Tinmouth. Doors will open at 7 PM. There is a suggested donation of $10, 90% of which goes to the performers. Desserts, coffee and tea will be available; donations for them will help support Tinmouth community organizations.
