Dear Neighbors,
On Monday, the City Council will convene its first of three meetings for the month of June. Our meeting will begin at 7pm in Contois Auditorium in City Hall.
Due to a relatively brief agenda and in order to accommodate our 7:30pm public forum without addressing any debatable items on our deliberative agenda prior to the forum, we will begin our meeting where we usually end it with committee reports and comments from Councilors.
Following our public forum and approval of our consent agenda, we have two items on our deliberative agenda. The first item is a communication from the Mayor on Mayoral appointments for FY16. This is an annual communication when the Mayor announces appointments of department heads, attorneys in the City Attorney’s office and other appointments under the Mayor’s purview that must be approved by the City Council.
Our second item is a resolution regarding the referral of the interim communication from the Mayor on Uber’s operating agreement with Uber to the Ordinance and License Committees and requests they meet jointly to review and make joint recommendations back to the Council by its June 29 meeting. The City Council further refers to the Ordinance Committee the review of the City’s vehicles for hire ordinance and the oversight of a stakeholder process to consider permanent revisions to the ordinance, reporting back to the Council on its progress no later than the first Council meeting in September. Uber's arrival to our community has attracted the attention and concern of the taxicab community and other stakeholders. This resolution will allow an open forum where everyone can be heard and play a role in the crafting of these revisions.
Following comments from the Mayor, the Council will receive an update from the City Attorney on collective bargaining. As you may recall, we are currently bargaining with all four of our unions. As these discussions are ongoing, the update will be in Executive Session.
As with all Council meetings, please keep in mind that you are always welcome to come and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum which begins at 7:30pm.
