Nebraska Valley Solar Farm - Vote may 28

Past event
May 28, 2015

We are asking all residents to come out and vote on this important issue, this Thursday May 28th from 7am until 7pm, at the Town Offices in the Akeley Building on Main Street. We are in the beginning stages of the project and are asking for your support! Approval from Stowe residents will allow us to gather financing and additional information to move forward with the project. Next, we will seek approval from the Public Service Board, begin the RFP process for construction and materials, then ask for your final approval with a confirmation vote. We want our residents to be informed so please, if you have any questions on the project, call us at 253-7215! Please come out on Thursday to vote!

And thank you Anthony for answering the question on the life of the panels; the life expectancy is 30-35 years. As for the decommissioning of the project once the panels have reached the end of their useful life, part of the Public Service Board review will require that we have a decommissioning plan. The actual cost of decommission is included in the bond. Based on the current preliminary project design, an estimate for decommissioning is $70 - 80,000 range. This is a conservative estimate because, similar to what Anthony hinted, we anticipate there will be a resale and salvage value of the materials once the project is decommissioned, but we are unable to account for that in these calculations.
