The annual Student Art Show is under way at Thatcher Brook Primary School with a closing reception next Thursday (May 28) from 5-7 p.m. at school. Art pieces created by some 400 students from preschool through fourth grade are on display in the school’s corridors and cafeteria through the 28th.
If you enjoyed seeing the art show last year at Axel's Gallery and around town, come to school to check out another year of student driven art projects. What makes this presentation unique is that each piece is truly different. Most creations are the result of students’ choices of media, themes and forms.
A special effort at the art show this year is a fundraiser that the school’s student council decided to do to help earthquake survivors in Nepal. Visitors to the art show will be able to purchase one-of-a-kind notecards designed by students. Proceeds will go to the Himalayan Cataract Project, a non-profit organization headquartered with an office in Waterbury. 100% of the funds raised will be utilized for relief.
