Bicycle "Ride of Silence"

Past event
May 20, 2015

Please join us for a silent, not-too-fast ride as a remembrance of people who have died on VT roads. We'll meet at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, May 20th, outside Bicycle Express on the Northfield Common, and will ride at a moderate pace down Rt. 12 A to the Roxbury Cemetery, about a 6 mile ride each way. We will ride in silence, as a way of honoring those who have been killed and injured in our state, our country and around the world. At the cemetery, we will pause to remember victims of crashes in that peaceful, beautiful spot before coming back to Northfield.

This year has seen 2 fatal motorist-bike crashes of which I'm aware, taking the lives of Kelly Boe and Richard Tom in 2 accidents this spring. I invite all to bring memories of others they may know who have been injured or killed.

This ride is part of a worldwide event, with Rides of Silence taking place across the globe. Visit the website: http://www.rideofsilence.org/main.php for more information on other events taking place on May 20th.

I've been asked if we will carry a flag or sign to let people know what the ride is about--it would be great if someone wants to bring one!

It seems unlikely we will be rained out, but the fall-back date for this ride will be Friday evening, May 22 at 5:30, just in case.
