Middlebury Safe Routes invites you to join cyclists worldwide in a slow-paced ride in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roads. Raise awareness that we all share the road. Assemble around fountain at 5:45 pm for a moment of silence followed by sharing of memories. Anyone can participate in this. You don't need to ride. This part will happen rain or shine. We will be joined by Colleen Anderson, a survivor of a horrible truck collision who has gone on to run marathons and do century rides.
Then opt for a guided 6.6 or 12 mile loop departing 6 pm following rules of road. We'll ride if there's a gentle rain, but cancel rides if it's heavy rain, thunder or lightning.
Here are the planned routes which will be led by Molly Robinson, who will be accompanied by some experienced riders. Both are beautiful rides beginning from Midd Green at Triangle Park. We'll depart the fountain between 6 and 6:15 pm and ride together to Weybridge town center and then diverge --both routes avoid the site of Kelly Boe's death. We'd come back to the fountain within about an hour.
