River Arts will host AIA Vermont’s ‘Archistream’, a renovated 1969 Airstream Globetrotter that serves as a mobile design gallery and education center, as the final component of their Architecture & Design Series. Located in front of the River Arts Center May 25th through June 4th, the ‘Archistream’ will be open during office hours for visitors to see the engaging design first hand and learn more about ecological design in the process.
The Vermont Chapter of American Institute of Architects (AIA Vermont) worked with undergraduate architecture students at Norwich University to redesign and renovate the airstream trailer into a mobile design gallery and education center in 2014. The aim of the project, funded by an AIA Innovation Grant, is to increase awareness about AIA VT, green ecological design, and architecture to communities around the state. The ‘Archistream’ has been touring since last summer, stopping at the ECHO Center in Burlington, the Montshire Museum in Norwich, Yestermorrow in Waitsfield and others before arriving here at the River Arts Center.
OPEN HOUSE – Saturday, May 30th from 10-2pm. Drop by, take a tour and join AIA member, Mike Purvis and Norwich architecture student, Jess Dahline to talk about the project! Kingdom Creamery Vermont Ice Cream will be on hand selling scoops!
