Join us for an open house party with JEREMY HOLT and Shacksbury Cider at the Flying Pig Bookstore on Saturday, May 16, from 3 to 5 pm.
We're branching out to a new kind of event at the Flying Pig! This one features a horror comics author and his favorite beverage co., Shacksbury Cider, and is for older teens and adults. Ideally, we will be outside if the weather's good.
You may have heard about Middlebury author Jeremy Holt, creator of the horror comic, Southern Dog. He's been on VPR, will be in Seven Days next week, and has been featured in several other newspapers with his internationally bestselling comic about race and identity.
Southern Dog is the story of Jasper, a small-town teen who becomes cursed after being bitten by a wolf on a hunting trip. Things get really complicated when he discovers his family's ties to the Klu Klux Klan.
Southern Dog examines the unique complexities of race, love, and what it truly means to be a family in the Deep South.
Come drink delicious Shacksbury cider, listen to the Southern Dog soundtrack, and chat with Jeremy about the creation of this intense and compelling work. For ages 18 up. (21+ up - ID required - for cider.)
