Mother of Modern Gourmet Food Culture Demonstrates Her Winning Ways with Duck & More

Calling All Foodies!: Ariane Daguin, Owner and Co-founder of D’Artagnan, the nation’s leading gourmet food purveyor, and confidante to the country’s top 4-star chefs, will be making a rare appearance at the New England Culinary Institute (NECI). Recognized in 1994 by The James Beard Foundation as a “Who’s Who of Food and Beverage in America,” Ariane Daguin also was honored in 2005 with Bon Appetit magazine’s “Lifetime Achievement Award.” At NECI, Daguin will lead two cooking demos featuring classic French fare and will also be hosting a 5-course dinner that will make true food lovers swoon.

Guests will learn how to properly break down a duck and have the rare opportunity to see foie gras in its natural state. Proceeds will fund the NECI students’ trip to NYC to have the chance to participate in Le Taste of France Show

• Saturday, Sept. 7 (3-5pm) Cassoulet Cooking Demo at NECI’s La Brioche Wolf Kitchen: Everything you always wanted to know about “Cassoulet” – the in-fighting among the French as to the truly authentic recipe! Open to students and the public ($30)
• Saturday, Sept. 7 (6:00pm) Duck Cooking Demo, followed by a 5-course duck dinner at NECI Chef’s Table: Daguin will break down a whole duck and share the best ways to prepare the bird, from wings to legs to the delicacy, foie gras. She will share the step-by-step process in a cooking demo, so viewers can leave with these authentic techniques to bring a soupçon of France to their own kitchens. Open students and the public. ($65+)
• Sunday, Sept. 8 (11:30am) Brunch at NECI on Main: Cassoulet will be served. Open to students
