The Burlington Writer's Workshop and I are proud to announce the 3rd annual Infinite Summer: Burlington, a weekly discussion forum for those involved in our group reading of David Foster Wallace's epic, elegant novel "Infinite Jest". We'll be holding them every Tuesday, from June 2nd to August 25th, at the Burlington Writer's Workshop HQ (22 Church St., Burlington, VT).
There is something about Wallace's masterpiece that has drawn extreme reactions, from supporters and detractors alike, in the almost 20 years since its release - we will try to figure out why it has become such a magnet for passionate debate, engage in rousing group readings and will leave plenty of room to discuss whatever the 2015 participants wish to bring to the table!
"Infinite Jest" has drawn me into its orbit for a 5th time 'round, and my co-host Rick Rowan and I will try to provide you with all of the context and gentle coaxing you may need to get the thing read! This is a fantastic way to try the novel on for size, as well as a rewarding process for those who wish to read it a 2nd (or 3rd, etc.) time. If you'd like to sign up, you can e-mail:
