Mt. Abraham Budget Re-Vote June 9

Past event
Jun 9, 2015, 7 AM to 7 PM

Hello Lincoln Voters,
We have received word from the Mt. Abraham Union High School Board that the second re-vote for the 2015-16 Fiscal Year budget will tentatively be held on Tuesday, June 9th. Although my FPF message does not constitute an official warning, I want everyone to be aware that the goal is for the budget proposal to come to us after a board meeting on May 26th. This is an important decision, and I hope people will make the effort to show up at the polls. I appreciate our Lincoln voters, who turned out in the greatest percentage of all the five towns, but at 22% I hope we can do even better the next time. Here's my proposal to help make that happen:
1) Please help to spread the word about this important vote.
2) Please show up at Burnham Hall on June 9th, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. to vote. I assure you that it will not take much of your time. There are hardly ever lines, there is one ballot, and it will probably have just one question with a simple yes or no answer. Most people were surprised at how quickly they could come in and get right back out to whatever they were doing.
3) Don't forget to register to vote if you are not already on our voter checklist. The deadline for doing so will be on Wednesday, June 3, at 5:00 p.m. Come to the town office to request an application.
4) Request your absentee ballot now, if you know that June 9th won't be a good date for you to participate. As soon as we receive the ballots, we will send them to you immediately. I am hoping to receive ballots during the week of May 25th. To request a ballot, please send an e-mailed or written request to your town clerk at: clerk@lincolnvermont.org.
5) If you miss the mailing deadline, you can vote early at the town office during regular hours. Just stop in when we are open. Hours are posted on the answering machine and on the office door.
6) Stay vigilant, watch your calendars, talk with your school board representatives so they know what kind of budget you are willing to vote "yes" on.
We all need to take a moment to do our part in helping the school district move forward into the coming fiscal year. Please call me if you have questions about voting, and if I can assist you in any way with making that possible.
Thank you,
Sally Ober, Lincoln Clerk
