YOUNG TRADITION WEEKEND
THIS WEEKEND
MAY 8-9
Young Tradition Weekend, part of Burlington Parks and Recreation’s annual Kids Day, is scheduled May 8-9, 2015, in multiple locations in Burlington and Shelburne. The weekend highlights involvement by children, youth and young adults in traditional dance and music.
The Young Tradition Vermont (YTV) Weekend will include:
Friday, May 8 -7:45- 11 pm.
Contra Dance at Shelburne Town Hall featuring Quena Crain as dance leader and music by Audrey Budington and Clayton Clemetson. Brief pre-dance lesson beginning at 7:45 pm. $8 at the door. Presented by Young Tradition Vermont and the Queen City Contras.
Saturday, May 9, 11 am- 3 pm
The finalists for the Young Tradition Vermont Contest and include: Sophie Roe, Kaila Skeet Browning and Eva Sturm-Gross; Anna Butcher; Fiona and Emmett; Addie Herbert; Latimer Hoke and Maddy Hejna; The Whomping Willows; Paul Machabee; Audrey Budington and Clayton Clemetson; The Zii Trees; Les Freres Belanger; and Meara Meara.
The Instrument Petting Zoo will also be available during Kids Day. Contest at Waterfront Park.
Awards Reception and Performances-6:00-8:00 pm at Main Street Landing in Burlington. Performers will include sets by 2014 Contest winner Eric George and Audrey Budington and Clayton Clemetson, and a feature set by Irish musicians and past YTV participants Anthony Santoro and Geordie Lynd.
Admission to all events on Saturday is FREE.
