The Slow Living Summit is an annual conference takes which place June 3-5 in Brattleboro, Vermont. This year's Summit is described as "a mindful exploration of the journey of food, from farming and food entrepreneurship to food systems to nourishment to food justice and policy". The Summit is subtitled "Food, Mindfully” and draws individuals nationally and internationally. The Summit is a mix of workshops, lectures, cooking demos, and more!

The Slow Living Summit is a conference presented by Strolling of the Heifers, a Brattleboro-based food advocacy organization with the mission of supporting farmers. We do this by connecting people with healthy local food from local farmers and local food producers, and by adding to their understanding of the value of local food systems. We are also committed to helping to build stronger local food systems by encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship at new and growing farm and food enterprises.

This year’s Summit will be focused fully on food and food systems. We are marketing the Summit to farm and food business leaders, engaged community members, entrepreneurs, bankers and funders interested in the farm/food sector, students and academics, food-related non-profit leaders, and related professionals. The Summit will have five major tracks which include:

Food Entrepreneurship — How can locally-oriented farmers and food producers flourish in the face of a globalized food industry?

Food Systems — How do we develop food systems holistically — serving the entire community, using the entirety of available food resources?

Nourishment and Wellness — How do we strengthen the connections between food, body, mind, spirit and community?

Food Justice and Access — Is good food just for those who can afford it and easily access it?

Food Policy — What policies can maximize the value of our food systems?
