Biochar: Firing Up a Local Farm

Past event
May 7, 2015, 7 to 8:30 PM

Getting ready for summer usually means taking care of your soil. Have
you considered the benefits of Biochar? Michael Low, of Green Fire
Farm in Peacham, will discuss the origins of Biochar, how it is made
and how your soil might benefit from its use in a talk at Peacham
Library, Thursday, May 7 at 7pm.

Michael Low is the owner operator of Vermont Biochar at Green Fire
Farm, Vermont's first and only commercial biochar operation, and
Peachams only animal powered working farm and business. Michael began
producing biochar as a way to utilize soft wood pulp and other low
value byproducts from his logging operation. Michael has extensive
experience making and utilizing biochar in the many farm, garden,
orchard and silvopasture components that comprise he and his wife’s
diversified farming operation. In this talk we'll explore biochar's
role in restoring landscapes and communities.
