LEDC PRESENTS WORKSHOP ON POSITIONING YOUR BUSINESS FOR SALE
MORRISVILLE – The “Exit.” Every business owner makes one at some point. So how do you prepare for a successful one?
In this lively, interactive workshop you will be given the tools to assist you in planning for a successful exit from your business. The two most difficult decisions for any entrepreneur are when to start a business and when to sell it. If your timing and planning are off as you start your business, success may be made difficult if not impossible. If your timing and planning are off as you contemplate selling your business, you may be compromising the price you get, the amount of money you get to hang onto, and even your ability to sell the business at all. John Mandeville, the Executive Director for the LEDC and a two-time business owner himself says, “The best time to start planning to sell a business is the day you start it. Most entrepreneurs fail to think that far ahead and may find themselves making business decisions or taking courses of action in their businesses that end up detracting from the marketability of what for most is their largest single asset, their business. This workshop is meant to identify some of the hard realities that must be faced when maximizing market value for any business and when structuring a sale to ensure that the taxes you pay are minimized.” Come listen, ask questions and learn. This may just be the best three hours of your time you have ever spent.
The presenter, Robert Bloch, has had an almost forty-year business career and he has been a successful senior marketing executive for Fortune 500 companies, an entrepreneur himself, and an angel investor and business advisor. For the past eight years Bob has served as Director of Champlain College’s acclaimed BYOBiz (Build Your Own Business) Program which has helped over 20 students launch businesses upon graduation. The workshop will take place on May 20th from 9 am to noon in the Community Room at GMTCC. The cost to attend is $49 and pre-registration is required.
