Green Up May 2

Hello Folks of Wheelock:

Please consider joining us for Green Up Day by picking up roadside trash in you neighborhood. There are still a few bags available at the Wheelock Town Hall and Wheelock Village Store. If you use your own, please mark them somehow to indicate they include only non-recyclable trash. Because of the new recycling law, please be advised of the following:

1. ONLY true garbage should go into the green bags; NO recyclable materials. When full, please place green bags at the side of the road. Styrofoam, clothing, wet paper are some examples. NO organic animal or plant waste!

2. Recycling materials should go in a bag of your own selection. Recyclables include all forms of glass, metal, plastic, and if it is dry, paper and cardboard. No wet paper of any kind.

3. Oversized objects should be pulled to the edge of the road. This includes tires, mattresses, furniture, etc.

Town of Wheelock Road Crew will be picking up the green bags and the oversized objects next week. If you see bags still sitting roadside by next Thursday, please call me. We are asking that you please deliver any recyclable materials to the Transfer Station yourself. This will limit how much the road crew must do.

Please report the amount of recyclables (# of bags) to either me (626-5561) or Richard at the Recycling Center. We need to keep count for our report back to Green Up Day officials.

Thanks for volunteering ANY time you can give towards this effort. And, if you see anyone ever unloading trash of any sort alongside Wheelock roadways, remember it's a crime and work and money for our town to clean it up. Report them!

Happy picking!
