The Flying Pig Bookstore invites you to join us for a free event welcoming Vermont author and New York Times-bestselling author, Jeffrey Lent (*In the Fall*), to talk about the writing process behind another stunning Civil War-era historical novel, *A Slant of Light*.

Thursday, April 30 — 6:30 pm at the Flying Pig in Shelburne Village (5247 Shelburne Road, in the same building as The Bearded Frog)

“A somber and breathtaking Hardyesque vision of a little-known American past, Lent’s newest epic unfolds with the assured timelessness of a classic.” —Booklist

At the close of the Civil War, weary veteran Malcolm Hopeton returns to his home in western New York State to find his wife and hired man missing and his farm in disrepair. A double murder ensues, with widespread repercussions. A Slant of Light is a novel of earthly pleasure and deep love, of loss and war, of prophets and followers, of theft and revenge, in an American moment where a seemingly golden age has been shattered.

Lent’s writing is a delight of detail and focus that creates a rare richness in his novels. We are delighted to share this very gifted writer and his work with our customers and friends at the Flying Pig.

Walk-ins are welcome. We appreciate RSVPs to flyingpigevents@gmail.com or 985-3999.
