Mime Workshop

May 23rd, 10am -1pm

Rob Mermin will lead a workshop in the mime techniques of these masters for actors, students of movement, and anyone who has always been interested in Mime.

This class involves an introduction to Decroux design movements, analysis of corporeal mime, solo and group work, the rhetoric of gesture and speech, creation of acts, improvisation--and a few circus tricks thrown in for fun.

Open to professionals and to the general public!

Ages: 14 and up (If you are younger than 14 please contact us & tell us about yourself.)

About Rob:

Rob trained in Paris in the early ’70’s with masters Marcel Marceau and Etienne Decroux, and performed as a silent clown with circuses throughout Europe, Scandinavia, and the former Soviet Union. Rob has been a lecturer, performer, and director in TV, theater, and circus worldwide. In 1987 Rob founded the award-winning company Circus Smirkus. Rob’s awards include Copenhagen’s World Star-Time Gold Clown; The Bessie Award; Russia’s Best Director Prize at The International Festival on the Black Sea; The Lund Center’s It Takes A Village Award; the Vermont Arts Council Award of Merit, and the 2008 Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts.
