Green Up Day

Past event

A reminder that Green Up Vermont Day is this Saturday May 2. The Wallingford Conservation Commission will be handing out litter bags between 9-11 am at the Rotary Building & the Town Transfer Station (we'll be setting up ~8:30 so you'll be able to sign in and get litter bags starting then if you're a morning person.)

It is recommended that volunteers doing clean up wear gloves, boots, and bright clothing for safety and comfort. If you will be cleaning on roadsides or in tall grass long pants & bug spray are recommended. Groups of two or more people are suggested for safety (and for company).

If possible, try to collect trash in a separate bag from recyclable materials to reduce what goes into landfills and recycle as much as we can. Returnable bottles & cans can be left at the Transfer Station for donation to area charities.

Suggested areas needing help cleaning up include Church Street (all the way to Rte. 140), Rte. 140 both east & west exiting the village, and Creek Road. If you know other areas that could use assistance please let us know and we'll try to steer people toward them - you can post here to the FPF, on the Conservation Facebook page or tell the Town Hall or one of our members.

See you Saturday!
