Come celebrate the inaugural nationwide Independent Bookstore Day with your local independent bookstore - The Vermont Book Shop! On Saturday, May 2nd, we'll have special author visits, literary refreshments, and exclusive items all day long. Plus free stuff!

Schedule of events:

9:30 - 10:30 a.m. - Pose with Cyclist (and Author) Chris Bohjalian for a Wheel-y Great Photo
10 - 11 a.m. - Let's Make a Deal with Nancy Means Wright
11 a.m. to Noon - Stupendous Caricatures Drawn by Artist Ashley Wolff
3 to 4 p.m. - Bill "Renaissance Man" Schubart will Demonstrate His Fortune-Telling Prowess

Stick around for Cocktail Hour Under the Tree of Forgetfulness, Mini Vintage Pies and more...

PLUS Lucky customers will find Golden Eggs hidden in the store, VBS gift cards with Mystery Amounts – one for $50, two for $25, twenty for $5.

We will be selling limited supplies of bookish goodies, including a Huck Finn literary map, tea towels with literary sayings, a signed chapbook of original essays by Roxane Gay, a color broadside with an excerpt from Stephen King's forthcoming novel "Finders Keepers" and an inspiring quote from Margaret Atwood stencil.
